Eloise says " I love this poem because it reminds of Christmas morning when the world seems like nothing can go wrong"
I never know Just where to go, when all the world is full of snow I do not want to make a track, no even to the shed and back. I only want to watch and wait, while snow moths settle on the gate, and swarming frost flakes fill the trees with billions of albino bees. I want to watch the snow swarms thin, 'til all my bees have settles in, and on the ice the boulders ride, like sleeping snow geese on the ride. I only want myself to be as silent as a winter tree, to hear the swirling stillness grow, when all the world is full of snow N M Bodecker
They got cars big as bars
They got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It´s no place for the old
When you first took my hand on a cold christmas eve
You promised me broadway was waiting for me
You were handsome you were pretty
Queen of new york city when the band finished playing they yelled out for more
Sinatra was swinging all the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night.
And the boys from the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out for christmas day.
You´re a bum you´re a punk
You´re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy christmas your arse I pray god it´s our last.
And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out
For christmas day.
I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can´t make it out alone
I´ve built my dreams around you
And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells are ringing out
For christmas day.

Lucy says "I think this poem is very good because it is very comforting and it's just like a Christmas thing I used to do"
Little tree
Little silent Christmas tree
You are so little
You are more like a flower
Who found you in the green forest
and were you very sorry to come away ?
See I will comfort you
Because you smell so sweetly
I will kiss your cool bark
and hug you safe and tight
just as your mother would,
only don't be afraid
Look the spangles
that sleep all the year in the dark box
dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine
the balls, the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,
put up your little arms
and I'll give them all to you to hold
every finger shall have it's ring
and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy
Then when you're quite dressed
you'll stand in the window for everyone to see
and how they'll stare !
Oh but you'll be very proud.
and my little sister and I will take hands
and look at our beautiful tree
we'll dance and sing
'Noel Noel'
James likes this poem because ' It's very Christmasy and very Jolly" (myself I wondered if James actually read it ! more a reflection on the out of control consumerism of Christmas, but quite funny!)
Christmas commin'
busters strummin'
cash points hummin'
high streets scrummin'
were all succumbin' once again.
Christmas stockin'
folks all flockin'
debit cards dockin'
loot unlockin'
like a bomb tick-rockin' in the drivin' rain.
We're Christmas rappin', yes we are. Were Christmas rappin', indeed we are.
Christmas buyin'
very very tryin'
lost kids cryin'
debts multiplyin'
hotter than July in the department store
Christmas shoppin'
purses're poppin'
rogues're robbin'
ain't no stoppin'
very ones floppin' can't take no more.
We're Christmas rappin', yes we are. Were Christmas rappin', indeed we are
Christmas spendin'
never ever endin'
credit extendin'
sharks out lendin'
til's all tendin' to overflow with cash.
Christmas wrappin'
fivers flappin'
plastic snappin'
your wallet's got a gap in
the shops are all kidnappin' all of your stash.
We're Christmas rappin', yes we are. Were Christmas rappin', indeed we are
Christmas queuin'
cash machines chewin'
big debts brewin'
on the road to ruin
it's all just doin' mi 'ead in fast
Christmas begginin'
Santa's grinnin'
senses swimin'
wallets all slimmin'
and Slade blinkin' singin' --- IT'S CHRISTMAS!!
We're Christmas rappin', yes we are. Were Christmas rappin', indeed we are

Alice says " I chose this poem because it reminds me of Christmas and it's written by a Scots man" NB: All tutors should try to read this in a Scottish accent!
Cauld blaws the wind frae east to west
The drift is driving sairly;
Sae loud and shrill's I hear the blast-
I'm sure it's winter fairly.
Up in the morning's no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a' the hills are covered wi' snaw,
I'm sure it's winter fairly.
The birds sit chittering in the the thorn,
A' day they fare but sparely;
And lang's the night frae e'en to morn -
I'm sure it's winter fairly.
Up in the morning's no for me,
Up un the morning early;
When a' the hills are covered wi' snaw,
I'm sure it's winter fairly.
Thomas Says " I have chosen this poem because it's quite short but tells you a lot"

See The Sky Now. Aim And Fly! There's so much You can achieve Just set your mind and focus Don't let anything stand in your way Because God has a divine plan for you Look at the sky when in doubt, don't stop For the sky is the limit and you can do it You can do anything that you dream about Just aim very high and accomplish anything You desire, don't be afraid, just fly and then (Soar)
